CHARLES H. KNULL has extensive experience in trademark, trade secret, and copyright litigation, including trials in federal and state courts, and coordination of complicated litigation with related international disputes. (See, e.g, Heidsieck & Co. Monopole S.A. v. Piper-Heidsieck, Ancienne Maison Heidsieck Fondee En 1785, 2001 U.S. Dist LEXIS 2794 (S.D.N.Y. 2001). He is also an experienced practitioner in Opposition and Cancellation Proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

He has participated in trademark and copyright litigation in federal district court, and has been involved at the appellate level in arguments in the Second and Federal Circuits. He has vast experience in counseling clients regarding trademark licenses, computer contracts and entertainment and publishing contracts. He has also assisted clients in UDRP domain name disputes, domestic and international trademark prosecution.

Prior to starting his own law practice, he served as editor-in-charge of the Intellectual Property publications at Matthew Bender & Co., including: Chisum, Patents; Nimmer on Copyright; Gilson, Trademark Protection and Practice, where he edited and developed new intellectual property texts and formbooks. Before that he conducted congressional hearings and investigations, dealt with federal and state agencies, congressional staff and constituents, and drafted legislation and committee reports as Legislative Assistant to Congresswoman Patricia Schroeder and as Subcommittee Counsel in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Mr. Knull earned his J.D. from Washington College of Law, American University, Washington, D.C. in 1974. He obtained his B.A. in English Literature from Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, in 1969. He is admitted to practice at the New York & District of Columbia Bars. He is also admitted to the Courts of Appeals for the Second, District of Columbia & Federal Circuits and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York and the District of Columbia. He is a Member, International Bar Association and the International Trademark Association.
